PiNK PLUS

PiNK+ (舞)2016-06-30

maimai PiNK PLUS, also referred to by the kanji 舞 (meaning "dance"), launched on June 30, 2016 as a mid-cycle upgrade to maimai PiNK. The visual theme continued the pink/warm aesthetic of the base version. The two headline additions were the fully revamped Dan Certification and the new Event Courses. The Dan Certification mode, accessible only on Track 1 with a RATING of 5.00 or higher, replaced the older challenge-based dan system with a proper course format: players must clear a set of 4 songs at a fixed difficulty, all achieving Rank S or higher, to earn a dan. A key risk-reward element was introduced from 9-dan onward — failing to achieve Rank S on any song immediately ends the run. Dan titles also gained color tiers reflecting higher performance, and previously earned dan nameplates were redesigned with a weathered "antique" appearance. The Event Course system similarly offered fixed 4-song sets on Track 1, but with a more accessible threshold of Rank A or higher on each song to earn exclusive collectibles.

On the system and quality-of-life front, Challenge Track life progression was made more generous, with HP increased every Monday and Thursday. Three previously MaiBerry-locked songs from PiNK became available by default. Judgment timing adjustment was added alongside optional FAST/LATE display indicators, allowing players to fine-tune sync and diagnose their accuracy. The Track Skip feature arrived in a post-launch update, letting players instantly terminate a stage if their score target became mathematically unreachable. Full Combo and All Perfect notification overlays were updated to no longer obscure the combo counter, achievement rate, and score. The achievement gauge received AA, AAA, S, and SS rank border marks, and a "minus achievement" display was introduced. A new EVENT song category was added, and the upper screen area gained a persistent credit counter display.
