"connecting with you" is the theme song of maimai PiNK PLUS, the seventh major version of the maimai arcade series released in June 2016. The track was composed by Takahiro Eguchi, a veteran sound creator from the SuperSweep label who also works under the alias eoll, and features lyrics and vocals by Aki Misawa (三澤秋), a well-known doujin and rhythm-game vocalist. The music video was produced by Koji Aramaki. The song's lyrics explore themes of unseen connection and destined reunion, with imagery of electrical sparks running between two people, a fitting metaphor for the arcade rhythm game experience of syncing with the music and the machine. At launch, "connecting with you" debuted as a Challenge Track (the first in PiNK PLUS alongside 高気圧ねこロック), requiring players to fulfill specific conditions before it could be played; it became freely available to all players a month later on July 28, 2016. Over successive maimai versions, the song's in-game genre classification shifted from ORIGINAL & JOYPOLIS to ORIGINAL, and finally settled under the maimai category from でらっくす PLUS onward. The Expert chart, designed by Revo@LC, and the MASTER chart, designed by rioN, both underwent several level adjustments across version updates, a reflection of the chart's evolving difficulty calibration in the broader DX-era rebalancing. The MASTER chart sits at level 13 (constant 13.2) as of the FESTiVAL version onward, making it a solid mid-tier challenge for experienced players.
