Prophesy One is an instrumental original track marking Hideyuki Ono's (小野秀幸) solo debut in the maimai series under the alias vox2. Added to maimai PiNK PLUS on November 17, 2016 as a Challenge Track, the sixth in that batch alongside AMAZING MIGHTYYYY!!!!, it later became a standard unlockable song from maimai MURASAKi onward. The composition is built around a dramatic tempo shift, with an introductory passage at a slower pulse before accelerating into a driving main section, lending the track a tense, forward-charging energy. Ono, a veteran BEMANI composer whose work spans the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania series, had previously appeared in maimai through the collaborative track 高気圧ねこロック (with Jimmy Weckl), but Prophesy One is his first solo contribution to the franchise. The title and the "vox2" alias self-consciously reference his earlier GD track "over there" (credited as vox), with which Prophesy One shares structural DNA, a connection the composer himself has implicitly acknowledged. The jacket art and music video were created by Taiyo Yamamoto, who described his approach as making the visuals "as overwhelmingly strong as the track itself, nearly bursting out of the screen" (paraphrased from his tweet). Within the maimai difficulty ecosystem, Prophesy One's MASTER chart has seen multiple level adjustments across versions, climbing from 12 in PiNK PLUS to 14+ in BUDDiES PLUS and later, reflecting how the community and developers have re-evaluated its dense 10/8-time chorus patterns over the years.
