# maimai DX UNiVERSE PLUS (星)

## Overview

**maimai DX UNiVERSE PLUS** is the append (PLUS) version of the UNiVERSE series, continuing the DX-era space and cosmic visual theme. The most notable new feature is **Invitation Play** ("お誘いプレイ"), which allows a solo player to open the unused side of the cabinet for free BASIC-difficulty play by another person once per day. If both players clear their charts (80% or above), the inviting player receives a bonus to area progress and a 1.5x area progress ticket. Additionally, playing in 2-player mode now grants an extra daily stamp on the Stamp Card. The Tour Member management system was also overhauled, re-introducing member locking so specific characters can be preserved during auto-set, and auto-set now supports ascending or descending level ordering.

The update brought significant system-wide changes: all dan (rank) certifications were reset with entirely new courses, Otomodachi classes were scaled down on carryover (e.g., LEGEND~SSS5 → SS5), and the "Space Station chiho 2" area opened with new challenge tasks and Perfect Challenge tracks. On the UI side, area progress, active tickets, and the current DX Pass design are now visible directly on the music select screen, a FULL SYNC status icon appears on the score graph during multi-player gameplay, and clearing a Perfect Challenge displays a dedicated rainbow-themed celebration screen. Numerous quality-of-life improvements were also added, including a gradual headphone volume fade-in on login, enhanced Tour Member level-up animations, and a sweeping difficulty rebalance affecting many EXPERT and BASIC charts.
