Milky Star Shooting Star (ミルキースター・シューティングスター) is a maimai original song that served as the theme track for the UNiVERSE PLUS update, released on March 24, 2022. The piece was composed by 烏屋茶房 (Karasuyasabou) and features vocals by 利香 (Rika), who had previously sung for the maimai track ブレインジャックシンドローム (Brain Jack Syndrome). The music video was produced by ツツミヒデアキ (Hideaki Tsutsumi) of STUDIO KAIBA. Set at a brisk 184 BPM, the song is a bright, uptempo pop piece whose lyrics depict a character named Milk nervously preparing to perform under a starry night sky alongside her partner Shama. The song continues the narrative of the Space Station area's mascot duo Shama and Milk (しゃまとみるく), following the storyline established in the earlier track とびだせ! TO THE COSMIC!!. The accompanying flavor text describes Milk stealing a glance at Shama singing beside her, feeling that together their voices can carry beyond the Milky Way. In terms of charting history, the MASTER chart, designed by シチミヘルツ (Shichimi Hertz), originally debuted at level 13 in UNiVERSE PLUS and was later adjusted down to 12+ (constant 12.9) starting from the FESTiVAL version, a relatively notable late-stage difficulty recalibration. The EXPERT chart was designed by 翠楼屋. Outside the maimai arcade series, the track was also included as part of the Kawaii Pack DLC for Sega's Samba de Amigo: Party Central.
