PRiSM

maimai でらっくす PRiSM, released on September 12, 2024, is the 24th version in the maimai arcade series and the successor to maimai Deluxe BUDDiES PLUS. Also represented by the kanji 鏡 (meaning "mirror"), the version's visual identity is built around a blue color palette and prism/kaleidoscope motifs, reflected in its theme song and UI. Its flagship new feature is KALEIDXSCOPE Mode, an advanced survival-style unlock system where players discover hidden "Gates" and "Keys" across the in-game world, then challenge three-song courses on a shared life gauge to unlock exclusive hidden tracks. The mode employs a community-driven difficulty relaxation mechanic and culminates in a multi-phase narrative arc with exclusive boss songs, collectibles, and a new partner character.

Beyond KALEIDXSCOPE, PRiSM introduces a major overhaul to Area (ちほー) progression: distance is now aggregated across an entire credit rather than calculated per-track, the stock distance cap increases from 99 km to 999 km, and play bonuses need only be achieved once per credit to apply to all tracks. Quality-of-life improvements include lockable stamp cards, a "Random Select" option in the Favorites category, sorting songs by addition date, a new "PRiSM" judgment line design, condensed Tour Member awakening animations, and background colors that evolve with awakening count. Overall game tempo and transition animations were also sped up, and previously locked conduction songs and Area-exclusive tracks were unlocked for general play.
