maimaiでらっくす PLUS

maimai でらっくす PLUS, subtitled 華 (Hana, "blossom") and released on January 23, 2020, introduced the return of the Partner system, last seen in maimai MiLK. Players select a partner from the cast of maimai FiNALE via a Stamp Card mechanic: one stamp is earned per day on the first play, and filling a 10-stamp card permanently unlocks that partner, who then replaces でらっくま on the result screen with unique voice lines. The Otomodachi Matching and Dan system were overhauled — when a player's grade is about to increase, a Boss Otomodachi appears with a fixed score representing a chart designer's record; victory promotes the player, while defeat incurs no demotion. Player grades of 2nd Dan or higher from DX were reset to 1st Dan.

The difficulty cap was raised from Level 14 to Level 15, triggering a comprehensive rebalance across most songs. Genre categories were restructured — VARIETY became GAME & VARIETY, while new "maimai" and "ongeki & CHUNITHM" categories absorbed songs from the disbanded Original folder. A wide range of new display options arrived: a 101% countdown achievement display, a decrementing DX Score display, FAST/LATE indicators for BREAK notes, a SYNC/VS display showing achievement rate differences against other players, a sensor visualization option revealing the touch panel's active zones, and partner-themed sound effects for BREAK and SLIDE notes. The result screen gained the DX STAR system, awarding one to five stars at 85% / 90% / 93% / 95% / 97% DX Score thresholds. The visual identity is centered on a floral, pink/magenta motif befitting the 華 theme.
