Bad Apple!! feat.nomico is a Touhou Project arrangement by Masayoshi Minoshima of the circle Alstroemeria Records, with vocals by nomico and lyrics by Haruka. Originally released on the 2007 album Lovelight, the track is an arrangement of the Stage 3 theme from Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story (東方幻想郷). It became a defining piece of the Touhou doujin music scene, helped enormously by its iconic shadow-art music video (created by あにら) that spread across video platforms in the late 2000s and remains one of the most-viewed Touhou fan works on the internet. In maimai, Bad Apple!! feat.nomico was added at the launch of GreeN (July 2013) and was initially unlocked simply by playing the machine for the first time. The original in-game music video and jacket were maimai-original until ORANGE PLUS (March 2015), when the famous shadow-art PV and a new jacket based on it were introduced. The song's chart roster has evolved substantially over the game's life: the current lineup spans Basic 3 through Re:Master 13, with the Master chart designed by mai-Star, the Expert by 譜面-100号, and the Re:Master by the collaboration Jack vs 某S氏 (credited as 合作だよ before PRiSM). The Re:Master chart, added in ORANGE PLUS, is especially notable for its dense slide-note patterns, 114 Slides among 698 total notes, making it a demanding but satisfying climb for advanced players.
