FESTiVAL PLUS

maimai でらっくす FESTiVAL PLUS, released on March 23, 2023, is the mid-cycle upgrade to maimai DX FESTiVAL. This version introduced several significant quality-of-life and competitive features. A favorites system allows players to register up to 30 songs via the maimai DX NET website for quick in-game access under a dedicated category. A rival system was added, letting players compare scores with registered friends and toggle between achievement rate and DX Score displays. The chiho progression system gained a distance stocking mechanic: when blocked by a task track or perfect challenge, excess travel distance is saved (up to 99 km) and can be applied later — even carried over to a different chiho. Paid track-skip tickets were upgraded to also unlock MASTER and Re:MASTER charts immediately. Track skip options were expanded with life-based variants, and the pre-song splash screen now displays BPM, the chart designer name, and the player's current record. Invitation play was extended to support ADVANCED difficulty charts.

On the audiovisual and system side, the upper display gauge gained eight new configurable modes, including DX Score (subtractive type), judgment breakdown (separating Critical Perfects from regular Perfects), and a Fast/Late counter. Volume controls were refined: TOUCH notes and TOUCH HOLD notes received a dedicated touch judgment volume slider, while BREAK SLIDE notes got their own volume option. The cabinet's top LED now turns red on the credit's last track. All dan standings were reset, with an entirely new set of courses introduced. Cross-game unlock events with CHUNITHM and Ongeki allowed songs to be transferred between titles. Several collaboration and original chiho were cycled in and out, and previously "conduction-only" songs were made available to all players. The overall visual aesthetic continued the festival theme, with the version nicknamed "祝" (celebration) in the community.
