Lionheart is an Electro House track that bridges SEGA's physical theme-park experience with its arcade rhythm-game lineup. Composed by Masayoshi Minoshima, founder of the legendary Touhou arrange circle Alstroemeria Records, the song was originally produced as the soundtrack for HALFPIPE TOKYO, a digital reality indoor skateboarding attraction at Tokyo Joypolis. When maimai PLUS launched in December 2012, Lionheart joined the game as one of its earliest original compositions, carrying with it the kinetic energy of the Joypolis ride. Musically, the track plays on contrast: heavily distorted, trance-tinged synth noises in the intro give way to a bright, melodic vocal performance by Mei Ayakura, with lyrics by Haruka (ALR) that speak of companionship and overcoming fear. It was originally classified under the "JOYPOLIS" genre before being recategorized as "ORIGINAL & JOYPOLIS" and eventually folded into the "maimai" (original) category in the DX era. The Master chart, crafted by チャン@DP皆伝 (Chan@DP Kaiden) at a 13.4 difficulty constant, is noted for its Slide-heavy composition, 61 Slide notes against only 4 Hold notes create an unusually fluid note distribution. An infamous UTAGE (宴) chart was produced for maimai MURASAKi by the same designer but ultimately scrapped after being shown in a Niconico livestream, with the game later citing its excessive difficulty as grounds for removal. The jacket art was also refreshed in maimai でらっくす Splash, adding the song title overlay that the original release lacked.
