The two artists are regular collaborators within the BEMANI rhythm game ecosystem, particularly the GITADORA series, and REAL VOICE marks their first contribution to the maimai franchise. Although the official credit reads "達見 恵 featured by 佐野 宏晃," the collaboration functions effectively as Hiroaki Sano featuring Megumi Tatsumi, with Sano handling composition and arrangement and Tatsumi writing and performing the lyrics. The track is an emotional pop-rock piece at 183 BPM with a runtime of 2 minutes and 33 seconds. Its lyrics touch on themes of parting, lingering regret, and the courage to reach out again, sentiments that mirror the in-game flavor text attached to the song. That narrative tells the story of Momo, a young woman who discovers a fleeting song on a video site that changes her life. When she sings it at her local station, a boy named Tokiya stops to applaud her, and the two begin making music together. Their partnership shatters two years later when Tokiya suddenly declares he is quitting music. In maimai, the song was initially gated behind the Sky Street Area (スカイストリートちほー) progression system, requiring 28 km of cumulative distance to unlock. From maimai DX UNiVERSE onward it became available by default. REAL VOICE was later ported to Sega's sister rhythm game ONGEKI as part of the bright MEMORY update in April 2022, extending its reach beyond the maimai audience.
