Known within the doujin scene as the "Prince of Sound" (音の貴公子) for his polished, transparent production style, aran delivers a driving hardcore piece at 205 BPM that mirrors the cold, futuristic atmosphere of the Metropolis area it debuted in. The song's title evokes aether, the classical element once believed to fill the celestial heavens, fitting the track's layered, atmospheric synth work that expands over a relentless kick pattern. The song originally served as the 84 km milestone reward for Metropolis Area 3 in Splash, requiring players to accumulate distance through repeated plays of area tracks. From maimai DX UNiVERSE onward, Aetheric Energy became unlocked by default across all regions. The jacket art and in-game movie were produced by Gunjou licorice (群青リコリス), depicting a single illuminated city against an eternally overcast sky, a visual distillation of the flavor text's dystopian scene where sunlight has long ceased to reach the ground and only a geothermal-powered urban core remains.
