oboro is a chiptune-meets-Japanese-folk rhythm track by Hige Driver (ヒゲドライバー), originally created for the HALFPIPE TOKYO attraction at SEGA's Tokyo Joypolis. The song joined maimai ORANGE on February 5, 2015 as part of a collaboration between the arcade rhythm game and the Joypolis venue, alongside fellow track Dragoon. Running at 175 BPM with no vocals, oboro fuses Hige Driver's signature chiptune production with a high-speed beat informed by traditional Japanese festival music, the composer has described the intended imagery as Bon Odori, a classical folk dance. The accompanying music video, created by artist Kuroyuki (クロユキ), uses pixel-art animation that complements the retro game aesthetic of the chiptune style.
