LUCIA is a trance composition by SHIKI, a BMS creator and Vocaloid producer with a long history in the doujin music scene. The track was originally produced for HALFPIPE TOKYO, a digital-reality attraction at SEGA's Tokyo Joypolis, before being added to maimai GreeN in September 2013 as part of the game's launch lineup. Alongside Death Scythe, it marked SHIKI's first contribution to the maimai series. The song opens with rapid, bouncing melodic lines that evoke classic chiptune game soundtracks, then transitions through a break into a warmer passage driven by guitar, a deliberate structural choice by SHIKI. He composed LUCIA with a lower BPM and a melody-focused approach at the request that the track be less intense than Death Scythe. The soundtrack booklet for maimai ALL PERFECT COLLECTiON describes the composition's chiptune-like sensibility as reminiscent of scrolling shoot-'em-up games. The title itself is a reference to Lucia, the heroine of the Sega Saturn RPG LUNAR: Eternal Blue; SHIKI has noted in his artist comment that the song's shift from cold, digital tones to organic warmth mirrors the character's personality arc in the game.
