Ignite Infinity is the opening theme of Phantasy Star Portable 2 ∞ (ファンタシースターポータブル2 インフィニティ), a 2011 action role-playing game released on the PlayStation Portable. The song was composed, arranged, and written by Hideaki Kobayashi (credited under his Director Kobayashi alias) and performed by vocalist Annette Marie Cotrill, who also sang the maimai track Living Universe. The lyrics center on the resolve of the character Nagisa from the game's story, with themes of determination and self-discovery that gain deeper resonance after experiencing the narrative of the game's two story episodes. Added to maimai during the GreeN era on July 11, 2013, Ignite Infinity was initially unlockable by spending 5,040 maimile before becoming available by default when maimai ORANGE launched in September 2014. It is one of three Phantasy Star series tracks that debuted in maimai GreeN, and notably the only one of the three that never received a Re:Master chart. Over the game's version history, its in-game genre label shifted several times, from GAME to SEGA, then ORIGINAL during the early でらっくす era, before settling into GAME & VARIETY from でらっくす PLUS onward. The Expert chart was designed by 譜面-100号 (Fumen -100 gou) and the Master chart by ニャイン (Nyain), with the Master difficulty eventually reaching level 12+ as of BUDDiES PLUS.
