Outlaw's Lullaby is an instrumental track drawn from Sega's critically acclaimed action-adventure series Yakuza (龍が如く). Composed by Hidenori Shoji (庄司英徳), the longtime in-house composer responsible for the Yakuza franchise's distinctive sound since its inception, the piece originally appeared in Yakuza 2 and was later collected on the 龍が如く、龍が如く2 ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK album released in 2009. True to its title, the track blends a brooding, noir-tinged melody with a steady 145 BPM groove, evoking the tension and melancholy of the game's criminal underworld while carrying a surprisingly lyrical, almost lullaby-like refrain. No vocals appear; the arrangement relies on electric guitar leads, synth pads, and crisp percussion to create its atmosphere. Outlaw's Lullaby made its maimai debut on June 17, 2014, as part of the GreeN PLUS update, one of the earliest third-party song additions in the series' history. The artist credit on the maimai cabinet reads simply 「龍が如く2」, crediting the game itself rather than the composer directly. The song has been playable across all regions, Japan, international, USA, and China, since its release. Over the years, the track's in-game genre categorization shifted multiple times: it launched under GAME, was reclassified as SEGA during the PiNK through FiNALE era, landed in VARIETY at the start of the DX series, and eventually settled into GAME & VARIETY from でらっくす PLUS onward, reflecting the fluid taxonomy of maimai's library. Outside of maimai, Outlaw's Lullaby also crossed over into CHUNITHM in 2019 as part of a dedicated Yakuza collaboration event map.
