町かどタンジェント (Machikado Tangent) is the opening theme of the 2019 anime series まちカドまぞく (Machikado Mazoku / The Demon Girl Next Door), a comedy about a girl who awakens as a demon and her unlikely friendship with a magical girl. The track is performed by shami momo—a unit formed by the two main characters Yuko Yoshida (voiced by Konomi Kohara) and Momo Chiyoda (voiced by Akari Kito)—with both voice actresses singing in character. Composed, arranged, and written by Miho Tsujibayashi, the song is a bright, brass-accented pop tune that captures the show's energetic and heartwarming tone. In maimai, the song debuted with the launch of maimai でらっくす Splash on September 17, 2020. Its Master chart, designed by はっぴー (Happy), is notable for its dense slide-note patterns—56 slides out of 399 total notes—giving it a distinctive, pattern-heavy feel at level 11+. The Expert chart was designed by 華火職人 (Kanon Oguni). The song was removed from Japanese arcades on March 23, 2023, and from Asian and Chinese versions starting with maimai DX FESTiVAL, making it a time-limited piece of the Splash repertoire. Outside Japan, the jacket art was changed to a generic alternative because the corresponding まちカドまぞく area event was not held in those regions.
