Lia=Fail is an instrumental original track by the doujin music circle Team Grimoire, composed for maimai DX UNiVERSE. The title draws from the Lia Fáil (Stone of Destiny), a legendary pillar in Irish mythology said to cry out beneath the feet of rightful High Kings, a suitably epic namesake for a 186 BPM composition built from heavy orchestral synth layers and driving percussion. The track was pulled from the group's PANDORA BOXXX PLUS album, following their earlier maimai contribution Heavenly Blast from the same release. Within maimai, Lia=Fail debuted as the ultimate prize in the Friend Matching SSS1 class: players had to defeat the SSS1 boss friend and reach LEGEND rank to unlock it, establishing the song as a prestige reward in the UNiVERSE era. The music video marked a first for the Project Grimoire collective, composer Verdammt handled video production for the first time, while illustrator けもらて (Kemorate) created the jacket art. The character Ruff, who appears in the Caliburne ~Story of the Legendary sword~ video, makes a cameo here, linking Lia=Fail into the broader sword-and-stone motif that runs across several Team Grimoire maimai tracks. From UNiVERSE PLUS onward (March 2022), the song became available by default to all players.
