Trick tear is an original song written for maimai DX by composer しーけー (also credited as CK), who had previously contributed the track アトロポスと最果の探究者 (Atropos and the Farthest Explorer) to the game. Trick tear marks しーけー's first maimai-exclusive original composition, distinct from their prior arrangement work. The song is tightly woven into the 7sRef area, a narrative-driven territory introduced in maimai DX UNiVERSE. Its in-game flavor text describes a dreamlike scene: a white girl named Liz (リズ) awakens in a world of radiant light fragments, each particle carrying the memories of wanderers. The fragments coalesce into a tower and occasionally scatter back into the sky in shimmering arcs, imagery reflected in the song's music video by artist MiRA. At 222 BPM, Trick tear drives forward with layered synth arpeggios and a pounding rhythm. The Master chart (level 14, constant 14.4), designed by 翠楼屋 (Suirouoku), packs 840 notes across all five note types, Tap, Hold, Slide, Touch, and Break, with a particularly demanding distribution of 518 Tap, 116 Slide, and 90 Touch notes. The Expert chart (level 12, constant 12.5) was designed by はっぴー (Happy).
