Justified is an original song created for the maimai series, produced by the rock circle MintJam and featuring Takenobu Mitsuyoshi (光吉猛修) on vocals. The track was added to maimai MiLK on May 22, 2018 as the second and final Challenge Track of that version, before becoming permanently available two weeks later on June 5. The song marks a milestone for Mitsuyoshi, a longtime Sega vocalist: while he had performed cover versions of licensed songs in maimai prior to this, Justified represents his first original composition in the series. The music was composed and arranged by a2c of MintJam, with lyrics penned and co-performed by TERRA. The result is a driving rock piece at 185 BPM, pairing TERRA's melodic delivery with Mitsuyoshi's powerful, dramatic vocals. The Japanese lyrics evoke imagery of conflict and decision, a colosseum duel, shattered pathways, and the fire of justification, matching the song's intense, arena-scale instrumentation. The Expert (12.9) and Master (14.0) charts were designed by Jack, a notes designer whose work in this era of maimai is marked by dense slide patterns and demanding break-note placements. The Master chart, with 872 total notes including 131 slides and 42 breaks, has seen its difficulty rating fluctuate across versions, originally a 13 in MiLK, it was lowered to 12+ in FiNALE, then gradually climbed back through subsequent updates to reach 14 in BUDDiES+. Five months after its arcade debut, an expanded version of the song titled Justified -Expanded ver.- was released as part of a self-titled album distributed at M3 2018 Autumn, a Japanese doujin music event. This extended cut also appears on the maimai ALL PERFECT COLLECTiON compilation album, alongside alternate takes featuring only TERRA, only Mitsuyoshi, and a karaoke version.
