Cosmic Magic Shooter is a high-energy Touhou Project arrange produced by the long-running doujin circle SOUND HOLIC, featuring vocalist Nana Takahashi. First released on the circle's August 2010 album 星-HOSHI- (Hoshi), the track reimagines two themes from 東方星蓮船 (Undefined Fantastic Object): the stage 6 BGM 法界の火 (Fire of the Dharma Realm) and the stage 6 boss theme 感情の摩天楼 ～ Cosmic Mind, the latter associated with the final boss Byakuren Hijiri. The arrangement was handled by the production duo SHU x GUCCI, with lyrics by Blue E and guitar by Josh, resulting in a driving electronic-rock vocal track that channels ZUN's original melodies through SOUND HOLIC's signature polished sound. The song made its rhythm-game debut in maimai ORANGE on January 8, 2015, using a shortened edit (1:48) trimmed from the full-length album version. It was later ported to CHUNITHM CRYSTAL in 2020. In maimai, both the Expert and Master charts were designed by mai-Star. The Master difficulty in particular has drawn attention for its upward re-evaluation across versions: originally rated level 11 in ORANGE, it has been progressively adjusted through 11+, 12, and 13 before settling at its current 13+ classification, a trajectory that reflects both the chart's lasting challenge and the maimai series' evolving difficulty scale.
