明星ロケット (Akeboshi Rocket) is a vocal arrangement of レトロスペクティブ京都 (Retrospective Kyoto), the photo-theme track from the Touhou Project game 東方文花帖 ～ Shoot the Bullet. The original composition is by ZUN (Team Shanghai Alice), while the arrangement, lyrics, and bass were handled by Kisida of 岸田教団＆THE明星ロケッツ. Vocals are performed by ichigo, with guitar by Hayapi~ and drums by micchan. The title is read as あけぼしロケット ("Akeboshi Rocket"). A purely instrumental version first appeared on the doujin circle's 2006 album 明星ロケット, and the vocal rendition heard here was later included on their 2007 album 幻想事変. The animated music video, created by むらしん (credited as L-S on some releases), was originally posted to Nico Nico Douga in December 2009 and is directly used in-game, with only minor edits to the outro. In maimai, 明星ロケット was added at the launch of maimai ORANGE on September 18, 2014. Its chart lineup spans five difficulties, with the Expert chart designed by Jack, the Master chart by mai-Star, and the Re:Master chart (added in maimai PiNK on February 4, 2016) by 某S氏. The song has also appeared in CHUNITHM PARADISE LOST and オンゲキ R.E.D., making it one of the more widely circulated Touhou arrangements across SEGA's rhythm game lineup.
