CANDY CANDY is a bubbly, candy-coated pop track by Japanese singer and Harajuku fashion icon Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ). Released as her second single in 2012, following her breakout debut つけまつける, the song was produced, composed, arranged, and written by Yasutaka Nakata (中田ヤスタカ), the renowned electronic musician and capsule producer who defined the sound of 2010s Shibuya-kei / kawaii pop. The single was later collected on her debut album ぱみゅぱみゅレボリューション (Pamyu Pamyu Revolution). In maimai, CANDY CANDY was added to maimai PLUS at launch on December 13, 2012, appearing in the POPS＆アニメ genre (initially classified as J-POP in the PLUS version, then relabeled POPS from GreeN onward). The in-game cut runs approximately 1:48. Its music video, directed by Junichi Yamamoto, is known for a memorable dropkick scene aimed at a body double, but the maimai track ends just before that moment, making it a running piece of trivia among players. The song was removed from the arcade songlist on December 9, 2015, and is no longer playable in standard rotation. It also appeared in the Chinese regional variant 舞萌 (maimai 1st China).
