ホシトハナ (Hoshi to Hana, "Star and Flower") is the opening theme song of the first season of the anime series Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero (結城友奈は勇者である). The track was composed by Keiichi Okabe of MONACA, the studio best known for the Nier series' acclaimed soundtracks, with lyrics by Kanta Nakamura and strings arrangement by Keigo Oashi, also of MONACA. It is performed by the Sanshuu Middle School Hero Club (讃州中学勇者部), the voice-actress unit comprising Haruka Terui (Yuuna), Suzuko Mimori (Mimori Tōgō), Yumi Uchiyama (Fū Inubōzaki), Tomoyo Kurosawa (Itsuki Inubōzaki), and Juri Nagatsuma (Karin Miyoshi). ホシトハナ was added to maimai MURASAKi PLUS on November 9, 2017, initially as a limited-time event-course reward in collaboration with the anime. It became regularly available to all players the following month, on December 14, 2017. maimai uses the TV-size version of the song (approximately 1:32) and features the anime's opening animation as the in-game play background. The same song was simultaneously added to SEGA's other rhythm game, CHUNITHM STAR, as part of the same crossover event. On the charting side, the EXPERT difficulty was designed by LabiLabi, while the MASTER chart, rated level 10+ with a difficulty constant of 10.6, was created by rioN. The song was removed from all maimai cabinets on January 23, 2020, and was exclusive to the Japanese release of the arcade game, never appearing in Asian or international versions.
