新宝島 (Shin Takarajima) is a song by Japanese rock band Sakanaction (サカナクション), written and produced entirely by frontman Ichirou Yamaguchi. Originally created as the theme song for the 2015 live-action film adaptation of Bakuman (バクマン。)—Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's manga about the world of manga creation—the track became one of the band's most recognizable singles. It was released as Sakanaction's 11th single and later included on the compilation album 魚図鑑 (Sakanazukan) and the studio album 834.194. The song's title references Osamu Tezuka's landmark 1947 manga Shin Takarajima (New Treasure Island), a work widely credited with helping to define the modern Japanese comics industry. The music video, which has accumulated millions of views, deliberately echoes the opening sequence of the long-running variety show ドリフ大爆笑 (Drifu Dai Bakuwarai), specifically its seventh-generation iteration. In maimai, 新宝島 arrived with the launch of maimai でらっくす on July 11, 2019, available across all three regions simultaneously. It remained playable until licensing changes led to its removal from Asian cabinets starting with maimai DX UNiVERSE and from Chinese cabinets starting with 舞萌DX 2022.
