雷切-RAIKIRI- is an original instrumental track by kanone, debuting in maimai FiNALE on April 11, 2019. It was first distributed through the PANDORA BOXXX event before receiving a general unlock on July 11, 2019, the launch day of maimai でらっくす (DX). The Re:MASTER chart followed on May 10, 2019 under the same phased rollout. The title refers to "Raikiri" (雷切, literally "Lightning Cutter"), a famous katana from Japan's Sengoku period. Legend holds that the samurai Tachibana Dōsetsu (戸次道雪) once cut a lightning bolt with this blade, a story the Tachibana Family Museum itself acknowledged in a tweet after the song's addition to maimai. Musically, kanone described the track as "和風の四つ打ちでハイテンション", a high-energy, Japanese-style track built on a four-on-the-floor beat at 165 BPM. Though kanone had previously contributed to maimai with the vocal track "花と、雪と、ドラムンベース。" (featuring せんざい) in the MiLK edition, 雷切-RAIKIRI- marks their first solo instrumental commission for the series. The song was later ported to SEGA's other rhythm game ONGEKI R.E.D., and overseas versions of maimai list it simply as "Raikiri." The chart lineup spans Basic through Re:Master, with the higher difficulties handled by notable maimai charters: サファ太 (Expert), 某S氏 (Master), and Phoenix (Re:Master). Both the Master and Re:Master charts carry a 14+ difficulty rating, placing them among the most demanding standard charts from the FiNALE era. Over successive version updates, the song's difficulty levels have been revised upward multiple times to reflect the evolving difficulty curve of the maimai series.
