Based on ZUN's original composition 神々が恋した幻想郷, the stage 3 theme from 東方風神録 (Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith), the song is widely regarded as one of Yuuhei Satellite's signature pieces and has become one of the most recognizable Touhou vocal arranges in the rhythm game scene. The track gained particular prominence as the opening theme of 幻想万華鏡 (Gensou Mangekyou), a series of doujin anime shorts produced by the circle 満福神社 (Manpuku Jinja). Its title draws from a classical Japanese poetic phrase, "though the flowers bloom, they will inevitably scatter", evoking themes of impermanence that mirror both its Touhou roots and the bittersweet quality of senya's vocal delivery. In maimai, the song debuted during the MURASAKi era with Standard charts, and later received a full set of DX charts in BUDDiES, bridging two generations of the game's chart design. The track has also crossed over into SEGA's other rhythm games, CHUNITHM and オンゲキ.
