HOT LIMIT is a cover of T.M.Revolution's defining 1998 summer anthem, performed by SEGA sound veteran Takenobu Mitsuyoshi (光吉猛修) for the launch of maimai でらっくす (maimai DX) on July 11, 2019. Originally composed by Daisuke Asakura with lyrics by Akio Inoue, the song is one of T.M.Revolution's most recognizable hits, a high-energy J-rock track that has become a seasonal fixture on Japanese radio and karaoke playlists. Mitsuyoshi, affectionately known in the community as "Japan's best singing salaryman," delivers a faithful yet personalized rendition. The maimai version swaps a key lyric referencing composer Asakura for "Mitsuyoshi," a playful in-joke that carries through the cover. The jacket art doubles down on the homage: Mitsuyoshikkuma (みつよしっくま), the singer's mascot bear, appears wearing the same iconic costume T.M.Revolution sported in the original music video. This was Mitsuyoshi's second cover song appearance in the maimai series, following his earlier take on バラライカ (Bararaika / 巴拉莱卡). The song also appears outside the arcade rhythm game sphere, in Tokyo Joypolis's interactive attraction "撃音 ライブ コースター" (Geki On Live Coaster). In maimai, the Master chart, designed by 小鳥遊さん, has had its difficulty level adjusted several times across game versions, a testament to its borderline status between upper-11+ and Lv12 territory before settling at its current Lv12 (constant 12.0).
