ナイト・オブ・ナイツ (Cranky Remix) is a high-energy remix of one of the most widely recognized Touhou doujin arrangements in existence. The original ナイト・オブ・ナイツ, composed by beatMARIO (ビートまりお) of the COOL&CREATE circle, fuses two ZUN compositions, フラワリングナイト (Flowering Night) from 東方花映塚 and 月時計 ～ ルナ・ダイアル (Moon Clock ～ Luna Dial) from 東方紅魔郷, into a single ecstatic hardcore track that has become a staple of Japanese rhythm game lineups. This version brings in Cranky (Hiroshi Watanabe), the prolific doujin/rhythm-game composer and former SEGA sound team member, for an arrangement that adds his signature bass-driven, polished production style. The remix also weaves in a brief quotation of U.N.オーエンは彼女なのか？ (U.N. Owen Was Her?), Flandre Scarlet's theme from 東方紅魔郷, rewarding attentive listeners. Originally released on the 2018 album オールナイト・オブ・ナイツ, the track debuted in arcade rhythm games through CHUNITHM AMAZON in November 2018 before arriving in maimai でらっくす at the series' DX launch on July 11, 2019. The background video, produced by TOHRU MiTSUHASHi, was made specifically for the maimai series. In maimai, the Master chart (level 13.2, designed by 小鳥遊さん) stands out for its dense Touch-note choreography, 127 Touch notes demand constant palm-and-finger interaction, while the Expert chart (designed by 某S氏) tests intermediate players with a well-paced 10.4-original-design that mixes slides and break notes into the Touhou melody.
