Maxi is a high-energy instrumental track by Japanese producer Nizikawa, originally composed for the BMS (Be-Music Source) competition BOFU2016, THE BMS OF FIGHTERS ULTIMATE 2016 -Legendary Again-, where it placed 9th in the individual score division. Classified under the BMS genre label "ENERGETIC J-CORE," the song drives forward at a relentless 180 BPM with aggressive synth leads and a pounding four-on-the-floor kick pattern, living up to its title's implication of maximum intensity. The accompanying movie was created by the artist 出前 (Demae). Maxi was added to maimai MURASAKi PLUS on August 3, 2017, as the second Challenge Track (チャレンジトラック) of that version's lineup, marking the first time a licensed song, one not originally composed for the game, appeared in the Challenge Track system. It was initially playable only during the challenge period from August 3–16, 2017, before becoming permanently unlocked by default on August 17. Over five years later, Maxi received DX charts in maimai でらっくす FESTiVAL (December 2022), adapting the song for the DX cabinet hardware with added Touch notes. Both the Standard and DX MASTER charts are celebrated for their playful gimmick patterns: the opening sections spell out "M", "A", "X", "I" using Slide notes (Standard) or Touch notes (DX), while the song's signature "マ？" (ma?) vocal sample is mirrored by a character-shaped Slide pattern. The DX MASTER chart, designed by 翠楼屋 (Suirouya), packs 907 total notes including 145 Touch and 118 Break notes at a 13.8 difficulty constant. The Standard MASTER chart, designed by 小鳥遊さん (Takanashi-san), holds a 14.0 constant and is the more traditional high-speed stamina challenge of the two. Outside of maimai, Maxi has appeared in other rhythm games such as Muse Dash, and a remix by Dustvoxx titled "Maxi (Dustvoxx Remix)" is included on Nizikawa's album ORIENT.
