秒針を噛む (Byōshin o Kamu, "Bite the Second Hand") is a song by the Japanese rock band ずっと真夜中でいいのに。 (Zutto Mayonaka de Ii no ni., also known as ZUTOMAYO). Originally released in 2018, the track was composed by vocalist ACAne and producer nulut, with nulut handling arrangement. The animated music video was directed by Waboku, an animator known for his distinctive surreal style. The title and lyrics revolve around biting a clock's second hand, a visceral metaphor for anxiety and the desire to arrest time. In maimai, 秒針を噛む launched in maimai でらっくす Splash PLUS on March 18, 2021 as part of the POPS & ANIME genre. It received five DX charts ranging from Basic 3 to Re:Master 12+. The Expert and Re:Master charts were designed by はっぴー (Happy), while the Master chart was designed by 緑風 犬三郎. A playful in-game collection title, "筐体も噛む" (Kōtai mo Kamu, "Bite the Cabinet Too"), is awarded for clearing any chart with exactly 1 MISS, a direct nod to the song name. The song also appeared in SEGA's オンゲキ (ONGEKI) starting with R.E.D. PLUS. 秒針を噛む was withdrawn from maimai on September 14, 2023, and from Chinese arcades with the 舞萌DX 2023 update. It was later removed from ONGEKI bright MEMORY on March 7, 2024. Despite its limited availability, the track remains a well-known representation of ZUTOMAYO's early work within the rhythm-game community.
