四月の雨 (Shigatsu no Ame, localized as "April showers" in English-region releases) is a maimai original song composed by cubesato, the alias of Satoshi Yoshitake, a composer known primarily for producing television commercial background music through his studio Cubic Room. The track was added to maimai MURASAKi in April 2017 as part of an event course unlock, and later became a standard shared song before removal from the arcade version in July 2019. At BPM 79, 四月の雨 held the distinction of being the slowest-tempo song in the maimai series at the time of its release, a record it kept until Last Samurai joined the roster. This unusually low tempo creates a distinct play feel, as Slide notes trigger with notably delayed timing compared to most charts in the game. The Master chart, designed by 譜面-100号 (Fumen -100 gou), takes advantage of the slow pace to craft deliberate, measured patterns at level 13.9. The Expert chart was handled by the designer Jack. The song also received an UTAGE (宴) arrangement chart in maimai FiNALE on Christmas Day 2018, credited to the same designer, 譜面-100号. The UTAGE chart doubles the effective BPM to 158 by halving the standby time of Slide notes, with the designer's comment reading: "The proper BPM should be like this, isn't it." Beyond its maimai origins, 四月の雨 has crossed over into Sega's other rhythm game titles, CHUNITHM LUMINOUS (2024) and オンゲキ R.E.D. PLUS (2021), as well as lowiro's mobile rhythm game Arcaea. The song has no lyrics and runs 2 minutes 9 seconds in length.
